I find the effects of Spike Lavender (Lavandula latifolia) to vary enough from Lavandula angustifolia that it is worth highlighting the differences. The significant chemical differences between the two Lavenders are in the percentages of esters, ketones and oxides. The esters in Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) offer an antispasmodic and calming effect.
