Cajeput - Melaleuca leucadendron var. cajuputi

Cajeput is a refreshing essential oil that has an uplifting Eucalyptus-like aroma. Long used for chronic laryngitis and sore throats, this is a good choice for assisting in cold, flu, asthma, and rheumatism treatment. Not only is this oil effective in counteracting cold and flu symptoms, it is also valuable for dealing with painful conditions such as sports injuries, muscle stiffness, arthritis, rheumatism, neuralgia, gout,cramping caused by menstruation. Cajeput is an ideal oil to include in itch blends for insect bite, eczema, and psoriasis treatment. It is also great for allergic skin reactions.

Noted to soothe colic and intestinal discomfort.  In Chinese Medicine according to Dennis Wilmont,  Cajeput is useful for Transforming Damp in the Lung and skin as well as for Ridding Damp in general infectious disorders. It has been used in the Asian countries as a spray for bug and insect control.  Useful for spot treatments with acne.

Recipe

Congested Nasal Passages Steam Blend
10 drops Cajeput (Melaleuca leucadendron )
10 drops Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora ct 1,8 cineole)
10 drops Honey Myrtle (Melaleuca teretifolia)

This undiluted combination of oils becomes your "stock bottle". Use 1 drop total from the stock bottle in a bowl of steaming water. Place a towel over your head and the bowl, close your eyes and breathe deeply for 10-15 minutes.

Non toxic and non sensitising.  It can be skin irritating.  Keep away from mucous membranes.  If oxidized, it may cause irritation or sensitization. It may antidote homeopathic remedies. It is too strong to use with babies or children under five years old on their faces or in a steam. Care must be taken when using with asthmatics.
