Ponderosa Pine trees are the gentle giants of the coniferous forest that, at maturity, can reach over 200 feet tall with a lifespan of over 600 years. Here in Montana, we are proud to have the Ponderosa Pine as our designated state tree.  A distinctive attribute of the ponderosa pine tree is its aroma. Crushing the needles of the tree produces an invigorating scent of turpentine and citrus.

Various North American indigenous tribes valued the Ponderosa Pine for its antiseptic and vulnerary properties, using it to treat a wide range of skin problems including cuts, wounds, and burns. These communities also traditionally made a tea from Ponderosa Pine needles, providing an excellent source of Vitamin C. The needles were also commonly used in various healing ceremonies.

Our fantastic hydrosol has a number of additional suggested uses:

  • General tonic
  • Immune system support
  • Hair rinse (dandruff)
  • Expectorant
