Vanilla Oleoresin - Vanilla planifolia

Aromatics International's Bourbon Vanilla Oleoresin is produced in Madagascar. The production of Vanilla Oleoresin involves an alcohol extraction of Vanilla beans, followed by removal of the alcohol by distillation in a vacuum. The oleoresin remaining after alcohol evaporation is a dark, luscious brown and is thicker than honey. Vanilla Oleoresin is very concentrated and is also much thicker then a pure absolute.

Personal Experience, Research, Possible Actions

This thick, syrupy Vanilla Oleoresin will not consider diluting itself in jojoba as it is not fat soluble! A great approach is to put a large blob of vanilla oleoresin in 16 oz of jojoba and let it infuse for a week. The jojoba will absorb the aroma of the vanilla but it will not blend with the vanilla, so the vanilla stays on the bottom of the bottle. Once you have used all the jojoba you can re-use the vanilla by adding another 16 oz of jojoba to the bottle, no need to add more vanilla! I have re-used my one blob of vanilla in 16 oz. of jojoba 4 times already and the aroma of the jojoba is still strong!

The Vanilla Oleoresin comes in a small glass jar. If you buy the 1/2 oz size the jar is about 1/3 full (we weight it exactly). If you buy the 1 oz size, the jar is about 2/3 full. This gives you room to work with it. We did not use a bottle with an orifice reduces as the oleoresin is much too thick to pour out of an orifice reducer. Store at room temperature.

The appeal of this gorgeous Vanilla aroma has us dedicated to using it even though it is totally different than working with essential oils. We also put a small dab of the Vanilla on the tip of our fingers and use it as a perfume!

A past student and aromatherpist also suggested  another idea for using the vanilla; blend it in body scrubs with sea salts, a little organic ground coffee, jojoba and neroli. Smells amazing!

Enjoy the rich and exotic beauty of your Madagascan Vanilla Oleoresin!
