We like to combine it with other lymph and vein decongesting oils such as Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana) and Lemon. It is used to reduce edema. It is also a good anti-spasmodic.
The distiller we bought the Mastic from on Corsica said they use it for all kinds of respiratory congestion along with lymph and vein blends. We have found this to be especially effective when there is also muscle aches and pain from coughing, sinus congestion, and headaches.

Lymph Massage Oil
5 drops Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana)
5 drops Mastic
5 drops Eucalyptus smithii
5 drops Lemon
Blend in 1 oz cream or carrier oil.
