Baobab Seed Oil

The Baobab Tree (Adansonia digitata) from the Family:  Bombacaceae, is a traditional African tree whose seeds make an oil that is luscious and has a wonderful aroma. Called "The Tree of Life", this massive tree lives to be well over 100 years old - some sources saying 500 years -  and grows wild in South Africa.  The melon size fruit is collected when it falls to the ground.  Our Baobab is coldpressed, unrefined and wildcrafted.  The aroma is mild & nutty, and is a golden liquid.  

Like Avocado oil, Baobab oil is highly penetrating, deeply nourishing and softens dry skin. It is known to restore and re-moisturize the epidermis.

Baobab is an extremely stable oil, and should be a golden yellow color. It has a shelf life of 4-5 years.  Baobab oil provides a fairly good measure of unsaturated and saturated fats.  

Unsaturated fatty acids:

• Oleic                30- 42%       
• Linoleic acid  20-35%

Saturated fatty acids:

• Palmitic acid  18-30%
• Stearic acid     2-9%
• Arachidic acid <2.0%
