Personal Experience, Research, Possible Actions
Niaouli has many different chemotypes. This Niaouli is called a 1,8 cineole chemotype. This means that it has many wonderful therapeutic properties. The oil is used to reduce sinus and lung congestion, for allergies and colds and flu, to reduce and suppresses a cough, and is antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal. It is an immune stimulant and increases white blood cells in the body. Many people use it along with Tea Tree for infections.
Niaouli is also known for soothing chronic inflammation and healing damaged skin (acne, cuts, burns and infections), to reduce muscle spasm and pain, and for getting rid of tension headaches.
We often combine both Niaouli chemotype oils to enhance the therapeutic benefits!
Patricia Davis, in her book Aromatherapy An A-Z, suggests using Niaouli for damaged skin. It is likely that the oil can support the healing of the burns.
