Clay - Bentonite (Sodium)

Bentonite Clay is used both internally and externally.  We have only used this clay externally.  Gray/cream color, this is one of the most popular clays.  This Bentonite Clay is a Sodium Bentonite and 100% natural without additives. Created from Volcanic ash and sun-dried, this clay expands when wet, absorbing as much as several times its dry mass in water.  It contains over 61% Silica.  The mineral content is large with 25-35 trace minerals.  This clay is found throughout Montana and Wyoming, this clay coming from Wyoming.

Some uses:

  • Clay Mask - draws excess oils, debrisand toxins to the surface, aborbing them & boosting circulation and stimulating blood flow.
  • Detox Bath - use 2-3 ounces in bath water and soak.
  • Poutice - 1:1 clay to water.  Mix thoroughly and apply to the affected area.  This is one of the best clays to use for a poultice.

Considered Mesh Size - US#200 Mesh.

Recipe for a Clay Mask:  (Can be used on your entire body)

2 Tablespoons Clay
1Tablespoon Pure Water (add more or less depending on the consistency you like)

Mix the water in slowly while stirring.  Can add 1 drop of essential oil such as German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita).

Apply to your face and leave on for 15-20 minutes.  Rinse with warm water.  I like to use a hydrosol as a toner.  Enjoy your radiant skin!

Options:  Use hydrosol for the water part for a more hydrating mask.
